How to pack your belongings when moving to a new house
The key to a stress-free house move is ensuring you are prepared and organised, this will make the move go smoothly and stress free. As Wakefield based experts at house removals, AR Removals have come up with some tips to help you move and pack your belongings:
Like with most things if you leave it to the last minute you are more likely to make a slip up. Whether that you forget something, or rush and break something by not packing correctly. So, if you have a big house think about packing sooner.
Start with things you don’t need.
For example, under the bed storage, out of season clothing, or Christmas decorations. If you aren’t likely to be in need of the items before you move, then that’s a good place to start. That way you’re not packing things you may need to later unpack and you can save all your essentials to the last few days.
Pack one room at a time.
This will help you stay organised. If you mix and match rooms as you pack then things will get confusing. You won’t remember where different things are. If you have family photos with the pots and pans this will make things difficult for you when you come to unpack. It is much easier to pack everything from one room then simply move to the next.
Do not exceed 30 pounds per box.
Whilst it might be tempting to fit as much things as you can into one place just to get it packed and ready, think about the unpacking too. If you have a box weighing over 60 pounds you could cause a back injury or never be able to get it into the house, let alone up the stairs.
Label your boxes
Packing can take time, everybody knows that, but try and to minimalise the time it will take to unpack. A few simple steps like labelling boxes can save you hours upon on hours after the move. 20, 30 or even 50 identical cardboard boxes can be a nightmare to unpack. But if you have 5 labelled ‘kitchen’ and 5 labelled ‘lounge’ then it makes for much quicker unpacking.
An organised move is a smoother move. These few steps can make the world of difference when it comes to your move-in day.
Moving all your furniture on your own may be possible but can be extremely hard work, time consuming and often results in damaged goods during the transit.
The best tip for guaranteeing a safe and secure move is by hiring a profession removal service.
